Candi Henry

Drawing on almost 20 years of experience in litigation and transactional work, Candi Henry provides legal counsel to a wide variety of businesses, non-profits, and government agencies. She has served as counsel of record at all levels of Tennessee state courts as well as federal bankruptcy, district, and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. With a significant practice in employment law, Candi holds a designation as a SHRM-SCP Certified Senior Human Resources Professional.


 

Outside of the firm, Candi serves as Chief Legal Counsel for the Greater Nashville Regional Council, a government entity comprising 13 counties and serving a population of more than 2 million.  Through GNRC, she provides counsel to a state- and federally designated development district, the local Area Agency on Aging and Disability, an SBA-designated Certified Development Company, and the federally designated Metropolitan Planning Organization, through which the region’s elected officials work with the Tennessee Department of Transportation, the FTA, and the FHWA to identify and prioritize transportation projects for federal funds.

She began her legal career as a clerk to the Honorable William C. Koch, Jr., on both the  Tennessee Court of Appeals and the Tennessee Supreme Court.  As a practicing attorney, Candi also spent more than fifteen years teaching at the graduate level, first as Adjunct Professor at Tennessee Tech leading courses on Negotiation and Conflict Management and ultimately serving as Director of Legal Writing at the Nashville School of Law.

Candi has been designated an Attorney for Justice by the Tennessee Supreme Court on multiple occasions, and she is proud to have served as a member of the drafting committee for the court’s first Access to Justice Commission report as well as its Indigent Representation Task Force. She was appointed by the Tennessee Supreme Court to serve two terms as an Assistant Attorney for the Board of Law Examiners, and she currently is in her second court-appointed term as a Hearing Committee Member for the Board of Professional Responsibility.

A prolific writer and presenter, Candi has previously served as an assistant editor of the Tennessee Tort Law Newsletter, the Appellate Practice Handbook, and the Tennessee Practice series. She was awarded the Nashville Bar Journal’s 2023 award for Contributor of the Year.

Candi is a member of the Harry Phillips American Inn of Court, a fellow of the Tennessee Bar Association YLD, and a Trustee of the Nashville Bar Foundation, for which she serves as General Counsel.
